Long Island Together is a group of activists working to make our communities more equitable, inclusive and sustainable by challenging structural injustices in education, immigration, public safety and language access.

We envision a world where barriers are removed within institutions to ensure that every community is represented at the table of power. We are dedicated to highlighting injustice, working collaboratively with allies to develop fair solutions, and challenging those in power to address structural inequities.

Embracing diverse cultures is fundamental to our work. Our goal is to get into “good trouble” for the sake of all those battling systems of oppression and ultimately create a “beloved community.”

Our Work

Educational Advocacy

We work with parents who want to be more engaged in their children’s education, and our local school district to ensure a safe and supportive community for all our children. Join us to work on issues of equity, language access and inclusivity for all children.

Youth Enrichment

Our communities are enriched when youth have equitable access to recreation, art programs, science camps and mentorship. Through program like Summer Together and Partner Up, we challenge existing inequity by envisioning alternatives.

Immigration

From free legal clinics and court accompaniments, Long Island Together has sought to stand by immigrants irrespective of status. We work for changes to inequitable laws and institutional structures that deny access to our immigrant neighbors.

Policy Change

Grassroots change needs to be coupled with state level and national level changes in legislation. We work with our local representatives to push for policies that keep families together, that create equitable, inclusive and sustainable communities for all.
