Who we are

Long Island Together, founded in November 2016, is community of activists who seek to re-shape systems to make them equitable, diverse, just and humane. We are a community organization of volunteers who are independent of political organizations, and interested in making tangible change within our community.

Long Island Together is based in Port Washington, NY, and most of our work is focused on communities around here.

Our fiscal sponsor is Long Island Jobs With Justice, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, that brings together labor unions, community organizations, congregations and faith-based organizations, and students committed to protecting the rights of working people and supporting community struggles to build a more just society locally and globally.

Projects we work on

Through inter-sectional activism we work on a range of issues - education, immigration, environment, racism, social justice and more.

Our organizing has focused on Immigrant Rights, Educational Advocacy, Youth Enrichment and Political Change. We have successfully run a program called Summer Together that benefits a large number of local families through pool and camp scholarships. We also work with the school district to improve diversity and equity for under-served communities. Another program Project Puentes is targeted at training bi-lingual locals as interpreters to further language access for all.
